“ Check out their weekly menu on IG before visiting. The grilled Iberico is mind-blowingly good, ingredients are top notch, though be prepared for some waiting time when it’s packed. ”
“ This place is just perfection. Arguably the best meal of our trip, and completely unexpected. The decor is simply stunning, wine selection was impeccable, and the food was impressive on all fronts. Most importantly, the lovely couple that runs the entire place themselves has so much care and passion it shows brilliantly in the experience. Give yourself time to experience it, enjoy the meals as they come out since everything is handmade by the chef to order and pair it with a nice wine or cold pressed juice. Highly recommend coming, order as many dishes as you can fit, be patient and just soak up the beauty and love they put into it. ”
“ Foods are unique, and it's taste good! The atmosphere quite relaxing with some music. They will update the menu from time to time, if you wish to try something special, you may come here for a try. I believe the taste won't disappoint you. The food preparation take longer time than usual, try come earlier before you hungry.. ”
“ A Slice of France in Penang – Small, Stylish, and Simply Sublime Tucked into the corner unit of a charming pre-war building, Jaloux.Penang is not your average restaurant – and proudly so. With just four days of service a week (Friday to Monday), and precise dining hours from 12–2pm and 6–9pm, this place plays hard to get… and it’s all part of the allure. Run by a lovely couple with a clear passion for what they do, Jaloux offers French cuisine that’s elegant, authentic, and full of heart. If you're craving a true taste of France without the need for a long-haul flight and passport stamp, this hidden gem is the answer. And while prices may raise an eyebrow at first glance, just remind yourself – it’s still far more affordable than a Parisian bistro with the same quality. The menu changes weekly, keeping things fresh and exciting. And speaking of fresh – every dish is cooked to order, so do expect a bit of a wait. But worry not – this is the perfect excuse to sip on a glass of French wine or a beautifully crafted cocktail while soaking in the slow-living vibes. We were lucky to sneak in just before their 2pm break – and thank goodness we did. Every bite was worth the anticipation. It’s no surprise they’ve earned a Michelin star in 2025 – well-deserved and long overdue. In short: Jaloux.Penang is that rare, quietly confident restaurant that doesn’t shout for attention – because it doesn’t need to. You’ll leave feeling like you’ve discovered something truly special… and maybe just a little bit French. ”
“ An interesting place. Long wait as they are cooking from scratch and it takes on average 50 minutes for the dish. But it's worth it, the flavors are rich and have great layers of spices. An extra hand won't hurt but at the same time maybe that's why it feels special. ”
“ Have been wanting to try Jaloux for the quite some time and happened to have a little bit of luck on a Monday afternoon for lunch as they only accept walk-ins. Menu here is not fixed everyday which keeps things exciting for every visit. Of course we had to try their handmade pasta in which we tried three different types of pasta and with different base. Of all, I enjoyed the spaghetti vongole with cilantro pesto the best as the umami from the prawns blended very well with the refreshing yet nutty cilantro pesto. The tagliatelle with Iberico meatball was refreshing and had small hints of acidity to make it more refreshing and Iberico meatballs were tasty. The malloreddus with cheese sauce was rather heavy and strong- would recommed to share as it can get quite filling. To end the meal on a sweet note, we had the panna cotta which is the best panna cotta I’ve had! The texture was soft and the flavour profile was creamy yet light and refreshing! Waiting time might be a little longer as there’s only two people working but you can take your time to enjoy the environment and each other’s company. ”
